Preserving Our Roots, Growing Our Future

As custodians of the land, we’re more than farmers, we’re guardians of green spaces, caretakers of the animals who share it, and keepers of timeless traditions. Guided by sustainability and legacy, our passion is about honouring the past and nurturing a future that generations will be proud of.

Building Sustainably

From the start, we wanted the barn to reflect its sheep-shed heritage while giving a big nod to sustainability. Every design choice from reusing original structures to sourcing materials locally, was made to complement the landscape.

We’ve repurposed old metal cladding to create doors and silos, while rocks from the farm quarry bring character to our pathways and outdoor spaces. Felled trees, originally planted by Great Grandfather Hamilton, have found new purpose as a stunning ceremony table and a beautiful bar top, carrying on their legacy and sharing our story!

With the support of family, friends, and local artisans, the building of the barn celebrates community, creativity, and a deep commitment to working in harmony with nature.

Green Guardians for Generations

Our commitment to the land and environment runs deep. At Cairns, we’ve rolled up our sleeves to plant plenty of small and big groves, and we’re expanding our efforts with a woodland walk and tree-planting initiative for all our happy couples.

Farming at 900 feet in the stunning Pentland Hills has taught us to work with the elements and maximise our resources. Our wind turbine, a proud fixture on the farm, symbolises our dedication to renewable energy and sustainable practices. Together, we’re nurturing a greener future, one tree and one innovation at a time!
